Hey guys thanks for the help in the past. I just ordered some por 15 and epoxy putty to fix some of my rust problems since I don't have the resources to cut and weld currently.
I was wondering if I can just lay the rage over the por epoxy putty? Will there be any problems with this?
Thanks,
Mike

Good question...I'd ask the por people.
It seems that I read that you can,but I can't find any of my info right now.

There was a Car Craft article where they used POR products to redo a floor in a Blazer. They POR-ed screen and build it up after it dried with POR 2 part epoxy. Finish off with bondo, but the 2 part epoxy smooths out with water.
I think you are ok, that POR epoxy is pretty good stuff. But a little pricey if you are filling big rusted out areas.
Why not just go cheaper, use some screen, rage with the hairs, and top coat it?

IMO, Por products are not highly overused. You did not state where the epoxy would be used but I assume it is going on a body panel somewhere (Rage?). If you do not have welding equipment, I would suggest the following. Prepare the area to be repaired (strip, grind, etc). Acquire the replacement panels/pieces needed. Fit these up. You can hold these inplace with removable panel rivets or even steel pop rivets. Locate a local welding shop (they all have mig welding capability) and have them perform the welding for you. You would be surprised at how much welding can be done by a professional welder in a day or even in a half day. If all the panels have already been fitted and prepped and all the welder has to do is lay down the beads, you could literally have an entire car welded up in a day. You should be able to get a weld shop to do the welding for about $60.00 / hour plus consumables. Then you take the car back home, finish the welds (grind, sand , etc.) and complete your body work. Floor pans especially should be replaced or at least sectioned in as these are structural members. I hve commented on this before and will probably get criticism for my input, but I have seen way too many cars where a guy will spend 5,000.00 or more on a motor, beefed up trans,, etc., etc., then drop it in a car with rotted out floorpans because he didn't want to spend the money to fix a body problem correctly. Cheap fixes are just that and don't hold up.

Typo on last post. Couldn't get into the post to edit. Should read "POR products are highly overused."
I use POR stuff all the time, and thing they are HIGHLY under-rated & scoffed against by the "old school".
The stuff is awesome on frames, & suspension parts. I have not seen any kind of auto primer/paint combination hold up against it.
I wouldn't admit to filling rusty gaping holes with screen and POR products, but that WAS NOT what he asked about.
I'm sure he knows welding it up would be preferrable. 'Course, in my area not too many welders want to mess with a short-time project like you describe.
I'd advise him to hook up with a local Chevelle club, like we have with http://chevelles.net/tristate , and find some one willing to weld it up for steaks and brew. I know that is something that happens in our club all the time.
But again, THAT'S NOT WHAT HE ASKED.
