Most of these type of posts are thinly disguised classified ads. That is the reason most of them are removed.
BTW it looks like that valve cover is still available as there is a vendor selling new ones on Ebay. Might doing a search there to see. Since the classified section gets a lot of hits throw them on there with a best offer or what you want for them and see if they sell. Max value is probably going to come from Ebay.

yeah, i bought a pair of those from JOPARTS. its just a decal inside, its really cheezy.

Check this out, i was at Pomona Swap Meet last week.
I met the guy from ANSEN. he told me that Ansen and Motion have just agreed on making the new valve cover.

He wouldnt let me buy it, because he said it isnt released yet (2 weeks time). but i managed to snap a picture of it.

made from die cast aluminum. not sure on how much these will cost, but looking at his other valve covers, i dont imagine them to run at any more than 300 for the pair.
but thats just a guess.

Those "rare" valve covers JOPARTS sells are readily available at Speedway Motors. All he does is add some stickers

The original Motion valve covers had a Motion emblem attached to the cover.

The original Motion emblems are hard to find and are different then the repops

I picked up a set of these at the GM Tech center swap meet this summer for $65. They looked a little crusty so I took some polish to them with no luck. Then I realised that they had clear on them. Sprayed some paint remover on them and they are mint pit free . They are the early covers that have a different pattern on the inside from the repops. The Motion guys no the difference and will pay a premium for the originals.

I been a Motion collector for many years and have seen a few different styles of Motion valve covers. The real 60s-70s covers have a Motion emblem (same one used on the cars) stuck on in the center. The early emblem is different then the mid 70s emblem.

Some of the valve covers are polished alu. others were chrome plated alu.

here is a set that I believe are original Motion covers from mid 70s, these are
chrome plated alu

many of the ones on ebay are repops....more on this later

Yes, these are made offshore. They look okay in person but I don't know how well they fit.

In my opinion the JOPARTS seller on ebay seems to be confused or is a fiction writer.

He seems to claim that the covers he sells are original old stock that were made for Motion and Yenko but Yenko didn’t use these covers and Motion added his own emblem on his.

Looks like JOPARTS just had his own design made up where he machine cut
in the Yenko and Motion names into new covers.

Here is a copy of his ebay add. I am surprised they don’t get more negative feedback, as they are not original Motion or Yenko valve covers. IMO

“In the past year I have sold off most of the plain finned aluminum valve covers that I had. Because these valve covers were sold over the counter they came with generic GM Tonawanda decal on them. The company that made these cool valve covers that I have on auction made these originally for all the super cars, but never took off. These covers are new and were not a big seller back then. Why would you want to advertise that a motor was built by Yenko, Baldwin Motion, or Nickey. Like most of us who bought a car we took off the cheesie decal they put on the trunk lid or license plate frame for advertisement. We didn’t want to advertise for them. 35 years later we cannot get enough of it. If only I knew what I did today 35 years ago I would own a lot more rare stuff. These covers fit all big block 396, 427, 402, or 454 motors. They are aluminum and I have cleaned and polished them up because some oxidation has occurred over the years. They look very nice, in new condition. The high bidder may want to spend a little time polishing them up to perfection. I just installed a set on my 69 Camaro with a ZL1 motor, as shown in the picture. NOTE: All valve covers are new with some light oxidation. I have spent just a little time with some chrome polish. A little extra time will make them look almost like chrome. Do not be fooled with cheap Cal Custom or Micky Thompson valve covers. You can use most roller rockers and the cover will clear. The "YENKO 454" is not a decal! When I say embossed, I mean the aluminum is cut away and YENKO 454 is raised up from the valve cover.”

So how much is a pair of those valve covers worth that are blank in the center rectangle section? My dad bought a beefed up '68 396 back in the mid 70's or so that has a pair of those in polished alum that came on the engine, probably an over the counter set that the guy before him bought for it.

years ago they were really hard to find and a NOS set was about $500.00
I was offered $1000.00 for my used set with the Motion emblems. (i didn't sell them)

Then I guess the word got around and sombody started making them again.

I saw them at swap meets new in the box for $100.00 and the guy would give you a decal for the center with 396 or 427 or 454.

search ebay completed auctions for a current price

He really is living in a different reality when he says, "Cheap Cal Custom or Mickey Thompson valve covers". They both have become quite collectible as much because they look good and have a nice nostalgic flavor but also because they are well made and fit well. They are a far cry better than the cheapies he is selling. And CC and MT covers DO clear roller rockers, I've got a set of Harland Sharps under my old Cal Customs and there isn't any clearance issue at all.

If you like the covers he is selling, simply buy them from Speedway Motors for $99.99. At least that way if you don't like them or if they won't fit you can return them for a refund.

Joparts is the ebay username for the owner of The Parts Place in Elburn IL, or at least it was a few years ago.

Original Motion valvecovers were initially meant for the motors he sold for off shore racing. Those valvecovers came out for the 1970 cars. They were cast by a gentleman in Pennsylvania. They were an offshoot of the Weiand valvecovers. They were never placed on converted 67-68 or most 69 converted camaros unless converted after late 1969.Because of the strike a few late 69s recieved them including the 2 LS 6 cars. The original valvecovers had riveted baffles ALL the repros have screw in baffles. The gentleman from Pennsylvania started producing these covers again and bulk sold them to CP.CP then distributed them to SPEEDWAY and othe distributors.About 3 years ago he quit making them because of an increase in the price he wanted and what CP wanted to pay.At that time CP had back orders of about 300 sets.I haven't kept up with them but it looks like he's making them again in BB and SB.As for emblems Joel made 2 differant sizes one was for the valvecover and one was for the fender which was bigger. When they ran out of small emblems they cut the larger ones to fit the covers. The larger emblems are extremely rare. This info came from Joel,Speedway and CP when I was looking for valecovers.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. I just spent $300 to get my stock valve covers rechromed. By the way, my car was "tuned" by Motion in 1970 with only a sticker on the air cleaner and a member sticker on the side window to prove it.

Can you tell from a pic if they are the bigger ones. Also what was the emblem on the back spoiler on a 70 camaro, was it the same as the valve cover?

You can't tell a Motion valve cover by the inside but a Motion valve cover should have a Motion emblem on it.
You can maybe tell the approx manufacture date but Motion sold these over many years.

From what I can find (not sure if this is all correct) these were made by CP Industries in the early 1970s. They were sold under a few names and also used by Mercury Marine.

They came polished alu., chrome plated alu., black matt painted, and maybe other finishes.

They were used by Motion with a Motion emblem added to them. Also sold by many speed shops back in the day.

(I was told this by a vendor) They were a steady seller through the 1980s then the tooling broke and they were discontinued. So many orders had build up that the tooling was repaired and they started making them again.

You can still buy them new as a plain valve cover.

Motion also sells a new version but it has a different type of emblem.

Watch out for fakes on ebay
