I need new twist-in sockets for the instrument panel lamps on a '72 model and started to do some research. Ground up lists sockets for SS models, but not for the basic sweep dash. Is there really a difference? At about $6 per socket, I really do not want to order a bunch of the wrong things. Is there another source that offers the sockets for the regular dash? I checked an old YO catalog and they had nothing that I could find for this application.

I am diassembling a 79 Olds 98 if any of the sockets will work you can have them for free. I also have some in a box somewhere that are from various A bodies that are long gone. I'll pull one out of the Olds later and post a photo.

Phil: I think that they may work ,as the Paddock catalog states that the socket will fit a lot of GM cars into to 1980's. I would like to take a look at them. You will have to refresh me on how to get to your place. All I remember is that I think you live on Pro Rodeo. Thanks for the offer.

I know the ones out of a 77/78 Nova look the same but are larger in diameter. Won't fit into a sweep dash.

JW came by today and the 79 Olds 98 sockets won't fit either, they are too small. The ones in my 75 Nova dash are correct. In 77 Nova dashboards changed so the 76 may fit as well.

It turns out that these sockets are available from Autozone and NAPA. There are 2 sizes of these: 1/2 and 5/8 . My sweep dash takes the 5/8 size. The NAPA part number is LS 6501 . The price is just under $4 per socket. Paddock also has them in a kit of 5 for about $14 plus shipping. So my research is coming to a close. Thanks for the suggestion regarding Autozone and thanks for the offers of sockets from Phil's Socket Boutique and the Jim Mac Socket Shack.
