Greetings!

Was putting in a new rear seal on the TH400 I'm planning on putting in the Sprint. I noticed that without the yoke (and seal) the shaft seems to wobble a lot. Well, maybe not a lot, but it seems like enough that I should ask someone who knows something about this sort of transmission. With the yoke it's tight and feels good.

So, is it normal for the tail shaft to wobble without the yoke?

As usual, advTHANKSance...

keep in mind that the shaft is supported by the yoke which is supported by the extension housing bushing.somewobble is to be expected with the longer th400 outputshafts like the 9 or 12.severe wobble indicates a worn case bushing

Ok, thanks for the answer. Since there is not much without the yoke, and none with the yoke, I'm feeling ok about the tranny. Tomorrow (hopefully) it goes in, although it's supposed to rain and I'm working in the driveway...
