I just picked up an 80496-1 950 HP, used. I checked the "out of box" settings and it should be jetted 78 square with 6.5 high flow PV's front/rear. It has 88's in the rear with no PV. Should I leave it that way or put a 6.5 PV back in the rear with 78's?

Leave it as it is. That is the way all race double pumpers were run. I set all my 4150's up that way. In fact my dominator has no power valves in it. But that is not driven on the street at all.
I figured it would be OK. My current 800 DP has a 6.5 front with 72 jets and no PV in the rear with 80 jets. Just wondering how the HP series would be on the street with no rear PV. Guess I'll give it a try. Thanks guys.:)

On the street you will be running off of the primaries mostly. That is why you leave the power valve there for smoother transitions, and cleaner running.

Leave it . I have ran them on the street and on the camero on the track. Its a good carb,

I have mine jetted a little fatter, maybe too fat 80/82's with 4.5 pv's in it.

Yes that was with the 509. The car weighs 3120 with me in it, all steel except hood and bumpers and all factory glass. For this year I changed it to a 548, with new crank and pistons so I'm hoping for 9.30's. Thanks for the comp! Ray
