Will a ring and pinion from an L79 Nova 12 bolt work in an A body 12 bolt (same size)?

Yes. Only truck 12-bolt R&P's are different, all the car 12-bolts are the same.

You are 100% correct, of course. I thought he was asking only about the ring & pinion, not the entire assembly.

You are right, he was just asking about the gears. I just didn't want him to think that the axles would also interchange. I think the L79 Nova would be a '66, or maybe a '67, which have the shortest axles of any 12 bolt. They will not work in any other 12 bolt housing.
