Say folks I currently have the bumpers off my 66 ready to ship. I did a search and Tri-City Plating got some very good reviews however here is my concern. I called them today and the gentleman told me there would be a 12 week turn time on my bumpers, does that sound right????? Has anyone used them lately. I want to use them but 12 weeks or MORE, who knows. Any comments would be appreciated. What about Advance Plating in Nashville? Anyone used these folks for bumper plating?

Thanks very much,

Jesse

From everything I've heard, Tri-City is the best, bar none. And very reasonable prices. 12 weeks sounds like the norm for ANY chrome place. T-Man just had his done at Tri-City and it took 13 weeks. He says the work was top notch.

Hey Von, thanks guy for the input. I guess I was a bit eager here. The main thing is the quality and not have a rush job. I waited until after the show season has just about ended down here to pull them. It is time to have them plated, they have been on there since day one. Thanks again.

Souinds about right.. my 64's were 8 weeks ad the 65 about the same.. another GREAT point is there service... At the pointed tip on my 65 front bumper, it started to flake down to the copper.. about 1/32 " sq.. I removed the bumper called them and This was two weeks B-4 Carlisle they brought one up for me and exchanged it FREE..

Did they give you the option to exchange yours for some all ready re-chromed?
Thats what my father did for his front and rear on his 68.
Walked in with his old ones and walked out the door with newly re-chromed ones.
Just a thought.

I brought my front bumper directly to them thinking I would have them re-chrome it and at least be able to save the shipping on one way. In the end, I ended up trading mine in for one they had already re-chromed... and saved shipping both ways. smile.gif They had three re-chromed bumpers to choose from. They had no problem with me asking to see all three... they all looked show quality to me... I just chose the one I perceived as being the best.

Maybe checking out what they have at a local show (Charlotte?) might be worthwhile for you if the timing is right... and, of course, if you’re willing to part with the original bumpers. You can call ahead to see if they're bringing what you need to the show.

What kind of price are they getting for each bumper? What kind of warranty?
Thanks Nelson

I paid $225 per bumper on my 69. They actually had a pair done so all I did was send them my cores ($50 core charge each) and they shipped me ones they had. I am pleased with them. i also called them about a couple months or so ago and they told me 12 weeks. I didn't have the time to wait then so I just picked up a repro until i can send them a GM one.

Thanks Nelson They offer a lifetime warranty. My front bumper came from them 4 years ago. It still looks great after 4 years of daily driving through rain, snow....you name it!

Tri-City charged me $240 for each bumper and $50 each for the bumper guards. Advance wanted a lot more than that.

Sounds like a top notch company. Do they do small jobs like column shift handles?
Thanks much,
Gerry

Gerry,
I think they only do bumpers, but you can give them a call...423-542-1690 If not just check with your local harley davidson dealer I bet they would know who does small parts.

Had my rear bumper done last winter by Tri City. They told me 8-10 week turn around, and I had them back in less than 6. Awsome chrome. Would steer anyone looking for replates to them!

Hey Mike, I realize this is an old post but I have been busy doing some house painting. It does me proud to know that I am doing something on my 66 that makes you proud, I guess only us 66er's would understand all this right.
Really thanks guy for the vote of confidence.

Tri-City only does bumpers, but when I seen them at Carlisle ... they were familiar with this guy, who was in the booth beside them.

I've not ever touched them, but this was at least the name that the Tri-City guys passed on for non-bumper stuff.

Thanks, Neal
