Ok guys, heres the scoop. The guy down the street if having "financial troubles" and says he will sell me his 64 Chevelle for $300(three HUNDRED dollars). It is a project car. From what I've seen, its pretty straight, and it has new paint. Its kind of a grabber blue looking color. He's even got a 396 to go with it. Not much interior though, just front seats as far as I know. ANYWHO, I was wondering if there was any way to put a 65 grille and lights on the 64, because I think the 64 front is butt ugly (no offence). Would this require mass ammounts of work? Let me know what you guys think of this situation!

I think you can do it with by changing the radiator support and then mounting the 65 front clip. The body side moldings will not line up. Take a look in the 64/65 wagons section, there is a pic of a 64 with a 65 front clip. The interiors are very similar between the two years and the parts will interchange. $300 is a steal, do it anyway, finish the car and if you don't like it, sell it.

Yes you can put a front clip from a 65 on a 64. Can't just do the grill. The rad support for a 64 mounts differently to the frame. 64 has a small hole in the mount and in the frame and is shimmed. 65 used a rubber bushing setup to mount it and had much larger holes in both the frame and the support. The front bumper was also different. The body lines are the same, but exterior trim pieces were completely different in size and location. Interior door panels would fit either year but had different accents. The dash was a little different in shape but will fit. For $300 I'd deal with "butt ugly".

OK, so if I change the whole front clip I can do it. How would I find a 65 front clip though? There isn't many good parts Chevelles around here.

That clip on ebay looks pretty good. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2403052671&category=33644

How would I go about getting it shipped, though? It says I must arrange to have it picked up, and am not about to pay another $300-500 dollars just to have a front clip shipped.
