The Eastwood Company has an Underhood Black that is a semi gloss, I don't know what is correct for your car, but you might try it.

The eastwood paint lays on really nice.Another nice cheap paint is the vht semi gloss you get at Auto Zone. It really comes out nice for underhood parts.

I just ordered 150 somethin bucks of paints and prep stuff from eastwood. I plan to use their stripper, their prep chemical, their self etching primer and then their underhood black. This is on the inner fenders and firewall but I gotta pull the mill after my suspension is back together so's I can sand and fill/smooth it out.

Most of it is in the prep work. The rest is just shooting even coats out of the rattle can.

We sandblasted our firewall, then shot it with POR-15 Silver. Then we fabricated a two piece aluminum firewall with a 3/8" space between the two for running some of our wires, as we wanted that clean look.

If you need pictures, we can email them to you.

I would like to see what you did for the aluminum and how it turned out. Like what you used for vibration dampening between the aluminum and the firewall, template, etc. I would really like to have that clean, no wires look but am not sure how to approach it. Any and all ya got por favor.

Thanks. too http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif

I just did the firewall on the 66 before it went to the body shop. I used a sherwin williams chassis black for commercial equipment. It sprayed easy and it's a semigloss. Total cost with a gallon of reducer was 80.00. I have used the firewall black from eastwood and it is defintely flat black. I actually used eastwood chassis black on the dash in the car. Turned out great.

Here are 4 of the pictures (Others available by email) of the pattern for our Aluminum Firewall. It has been sanded and beveled only, otherwise, all cutouts have been completed.

This is a full 2 piece firewall for those who have eliminated their inner fenderswells, however, it will also be available for those who intend to reinstall their inner fenderwells.

It should fit all '68-'72 Chevelles/El Caminos, however, we will confirm that with various Team Chevelle Members and Local Enthusiasts before making that claim.

Note that we will now fabricate our own firewall, beadblast it, then either have it powdercoated or spray it with VHT Clear or Silver/Grey.

This aluminum firewall is now the second product available for sale, the first of course being our '68-'69 Chevelle/El Camino Custom Dash Bezel which has met with great success from Las Vegas Area Enthusiasts, and several Team Chevelle Members.

These first 2 products will soon be available for viewing on our new website thru Robert McIntosh.
