Can anyone give me some advice on the best way to cut out some quartes from a doner car (which type of tool will work best.) If I dont have an extra plasma cutter laying around. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Liquid Wrench will do the job. Torches.

You might be able to cut much of it with a sawsall.

Eastwood sells an attachment for your drill that drills around the spot welds. It looks like a minature hole saw used to drill door knob holes.

I use a combination of tools. The fastest is a metal cutting blade installed in a Skill saw. Also use a reciprocating saw and drill.

I've always preferred a die grinder and a cut off wheel. It's easier to control than the bigger stuff. You will need the spot weld cutter for some areas also. If you want to put the quarters on the intended car as the factory did, they should be cut off the donor OUTSIDE the factory seams so that the spot welds can be removed from behind. That way the holes are all drilled in the pieces that will be discarded rather than the original factory mounting areas. The opposite would be true on the car being used. Remove the old panels from INSIDE the seams, then work with the remaining areas leaving solid mounting surfaces. In other words, try to damage only the surfaces you're removing and discarding.

As a side note, I don't usually buy Snap On stuff because of their obscene pricing. (somebody's gotta pay for all those weekly payment guys that skip, but it ain't gonna be me) But in this case I like their spot weld cutters better than anything else I've found. I bought some from one of the tent vendors at a show last year and they were junk. Haven't used Eastwood's.

You got some good sugjestions, I like the 1/4 pannel removed from the doner car with alot of EXTRA donner still attached.
So a Blue Flaming Hammer ( torch)
A Saws all
or if you lucky a Echo gas cut off saw.
( i don't know how to spell " Radeak " )
And now with a peice I can handle. IMO Use a cut off wheel, spot weld cutter and air chisel.
