I'm following "Bondo Basics" (you there MartinSr?) but I find that as I sand the "final" skim coat, in order to get it flat and smooth, I'm seeing metal come up. This is a repro quarter that had some minor waves (don't they all?) so it's not something i want to tap down, especially at this stage. Do I add another skim coat or is it OK to leave some metal showing? Will the high build primer fill the imperfection? I'm so close!
Thanks,
Rich

Hey Rich, If you're blocking this correctly the metal areas you see are slightly high if they are preventing you from bringing the rest of the area to proper contour. With a thin glove on your hand or at least a paper towel between your hand and the panel can you feel these areas as being higher then the surrounding area? If the high spots are very slight you will probably be Ok with going to primer at this stage, otherwise you'll have to lightly tap them down with a body hammer untill your block just barely makes contact when sanding. Experience is the key with this stuff, knowing when is good or good enough before primer. If the spots are way high you will fight them forever, or untill the rest of the surface area on the panel is brought up to the same heigth. Getting this right before primer saves a lot of work when blocking the primer. I'm sure you'll get it right graemlins/thumbsup.gif
