I'm considering spraying my Chevelle, but I don't know where to start and if I can do it safely with my combo. What are the pros and cons to a wet and dry system? I plan on getting a set of AFR 195 cc heads soon and a more agressive Lunati cam. Here's my current combo:

-sb 400 block over 0.040 (408).

-9.5:1 compression ratio.

-S/R Torquer cast iron heads 67cc. The part # is 042660-1.

-Crane Energizer cam lift int. .3200 exh. .3200 int. .480 exh. .480, adv dur. 284 in. 284
Exh., .050 dur 228 int, 228 exh, 050 dur btc 7 abc 41 bbc 51 atc (3). The part # is 100072.

-Edelbrock Air Gap Intake manifold.

-long tube Flowtech headers.

-Carter AFB competition series 750 cfm carb.

-MSD 6A box.

-MSD plug wires.

-12 bolt rear end with Richmond 3.55 gears, Eaton positraction carrier.

-2 1/2 pipes, H-pipe, Flowmaster 40 series mufflers.

No mention of piston type here....THE most important part!

Stock flat head.

If they are stock cast then no. Also I don't think those heads will flow enough to see a substantial gain anyway.

Ok, then I'll stay away from the juice, so I don't blow my motor. Thanks.

Yup, two most important things were left out (one answered I see). Piston type and cam LSA. I know I could calculate it from the numbers you posted, but I'm lazy.

Hypereutectic pistons are CHEAP, throw a set in and you can spray a second worth at them with no issues. But like bracket1221 said, don't spray the stockers. I'm sure someone's gonna jump on here and tell you how they've sprayed their stock cast pistons and had no problems, but they are begging for trouble.

110deg is minimum LSA for nitrous to work like it should. 112 is better. Too much overlap and you'll "blow it out the exhaust" just like forced induction. Note the LSA on any company's "nitrous cams".

Dual plane intakes aren't ideal for nitrous but you can spray up to about 150hp before silly things happen. Make sure your ignition can fire with that increased cylinder pressure...and put cold plugs in!

the other important thing is to retard time 2 degrees for every 50 hp of nitrios

It works great on a 107lsa, so great, that I have so much torque,it won't hook :D I'm afraid if it would dead hook it would be on its bumper ;)

That would be fun!! Kinda like sex, " oh god" would probably be all you could utter.
