I picked up a new hood from Goodmark this week (Thanks Doug). I plan to spray some color-tinted Urathane primer soon.

Anyone got a suggestion on a grit to block scuff the hood with? Do I even need to scuff it?

I don't plan on painting right away, but I was thinking of hitting the underside of the hood with some single stage flat black.

DG -- the only experience I have with "e-coat" is through the factory paint shops that I have been in. The company I work for installs conveyors in the auto plants. I have seen e-coated (same as EDP) bodies go straight throught to the prime area without being touched and they come out great, but that is "the factory". In the body shop where I worked, we would give the panel a light scuff with a "greenie" (a green Scotchbrite pad). Go gently, as this coating is extremely thin. As they say on the cleaner bottles "test a small area that will not be seen". Good Luck.
