i am going to redo my interior and want to remove the rear windshielf so i can make working on the rear deck a little easier. how easy is it to remove and install the rear windshield? its a 69 if that matters.

first it is not a wind shield unless you drive backwars all the time. it is a rear window. unless it already leaks or has rust around it, i would not take it out. their is a minor risk of braking it and a greater risk of it leaking after you put it back. you will have to clean out all the old window sealer and that is a big job. you decide. graemlins/beers.gif

FO_FDYFO is right. If you do not need to remove the rear glass, I would advise against it, but if needed, I did this recently:
get two short pieces of closet dowel (10" long) to use for handles. Go to a sporting goods store and buy a small package of wire shark leader in the 200 lb test range (you should have no problem finding this in San Jose). You will notch the handles slightly with a saw and loop the end of the wire leader around it winding the end around itself in a noose fashion. Do only one handle at this point.
Next (with window moulding removed of course) you will take an ice pick or anything that is a small diameter that you can actually create a small hole to push the end of the wire through between the glass and the body. This hole will be penetrating the window seal. DO NOT PRY ON THE GLASS If you do, it WILL break redface.gif . After you have fed the loose end of the wire through this hole, attach it to the other dowel (handle) in the same manner. Now it is a simple matter of two people sawing back and forth gently to "cut" or "slice" thru the black window seal. Take your time and pay attention to the angle at which you are pulling. If you are at the right position, it should be fairly easy to slice along the seal. My 11 year old daughter helped me with mine. Good luck graemlins/waving.gif
As you can see in the photo below, I tried to pry and broke my front windshield and used the dowels with wire to remove the remainder. I started with the dowels/wire on the rear and got it out with no mishaps to be reused.

the wire works well you can also use a RUG utility knife the CUT the window weld from the inside.

As said B-4 take your time .. SLOOOW
