I am in the process of restoring a trunk that has/had the original black with aqua speckles. The trunk has been sandblasted, restored and painted black so far. I know that there is spray cans of splatter paint available but they are quite textured and I want it closer to original. Does anyone have a way of duplicating the factory finish? I appreciate all help/ideas. DougB

You will no doubt get many responses to this question and a search on the topic may show many responses also...but. I used "Zolatone" it is great stuff and looks just like factory when done correctly. No Clear coat needed on this either. Mine is for a 66, not sure what year car you are speaking of? But I will assume it's a 66 as some have been documented as getting Black Acqua also. This what you need to do.
Spray on as a base coat., Black Epoxy Primer PPG Part # DP 90 LF ( of
course all hardeners and such will be needed)
Then when that's done and fully dry., buy a gallon of "ZOLATONE" Black ONYX,
that's the Black/White spatter paint ( correct for 66 SS also). # 20-71 You may have to call around to
find someone who carries that, try PPG dealer first. and of course, diffrent code for your color, not sure what that is? The Spatter Paint is ready to spray, dealer
should be able to answer any questions about the product itself.
You can see my trunk in my web page photo below.
Good luck.
Mike
