I know I have read post about soft seal not being that great (rubber seems hard) and I done a search on weatherstrip and read all that but still wondering.
So many 66's out there I thought someone would be able to recomend a the best fitting and performing weatherstrip kit for those cars.
Anyone?

I have built alot of cars over the years and I believe that the weather strip set I got for my 66 Chevelle was the beat fitting and best quality I have ever worked with. From what I remember I think the brand was called Repops.

I used metro (super soft) on the trunk and doors because I tried soft seal first and they would not shut for anything. Everything else I used from NPD and it all worked fine.

Thanks, one more question,
does Metro actually have a kit or do you havec to purchase it all seperatly?

well I am not sure on that they may. I originally bought the large kit from Npd that included just about everything but the doors and trunk you would have to slam them very hard to even get it to latch so i did some research on here and everyone said metro was the way to go and in my opinion it was everything was great.

Purchased SoffSeal set for the sons' 66 Nova (yeah not a Chevelle but that's not the point). The weatherstripping was soft, not hard and as for the trunk not closing, we had the same issue. We needed to loosen the lock mechanism and be caseful closing during the first week or so. Once the seal starts to conform and give in, we adjusted it so it sit tighter. Nice fit now with no issues...

I used Metro on my '72 for both doors and trunk. The trunk seal is really great but did also close hard and had to readjust latch as another poster stated. I would recommend the trunk seal to my friends.
The door seals were a different story. The fit is perfect, But..... The moulded ends are really cheesy and cheap. They are nothing like the originals which were steel reinforced. The clips/pins which are supposed to hold the moulded ends in are flimsy and each and every one broke with very light pressure. The clips that hold the straight runs are very good quality nylon plastic and are perfectly spaced but that does not make up for the really poor quality moulded ends.
