Gazzer Jan 5th, 06, 10:30 AM Hello Jack, Welcome to TC:thumbsup:
I was born in the UK, Westcliff on Sea in Essex. Lived there until the young age of five when my dad brought the family to the US. When I was a teenager, I lived in Bognor Regis for about a year too, where I had my very first car, not a Chevelle, but a 66 MG midget. My folks now live retired in Torquay. Anyway, nuff about me, welcome to a great site and a bunch of knowledgable folk. Oh, and BTW, there is no such thing as dumb questions, people here are very willing to help, just ask away, there are quite a few 72 guys on here !
Cheers, Gaz:beers:
NiteOwlNY Jan 5th, 06, 10:38 AM Wow, it's hard enough for us to get some parts I can't imagine what it's like across the pond. Welcome, there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers :D
SuperChevy402 Jan 5th, 06, 10:40 AM Nice '72. What kind of work does it need? It looks pretty straight and original to me.

Looks like the grill is broken, there is rust pushing out from the back of the fender, the rear tires are rubbing the quarters... Man I wish my 70 only needed minor stuff like that...
Jack, does that black stripe go all the way across the trunk?
Looks good and welcome,
David

That's what you can see. it also needs a Quarter panel and door on the drivers side, a pair of front fenders, a pair of bumpers (i think it's been hit at both ends and repaired badly). a new roof and cover, The wipers don't work and neither do the dash lights. the interior needs redoing, and it oils up the back two spark plugs every 100 or so miles.
I still love it though. Getting parts isn't too bad as there is quite a large American car scene over here and i have a specialist about 3 miles from me. It's just the problem that it does really fit into parking spaces or on the twsity country lanes around here.
ACES-70 Jan 5th, 06, 1:16 PM Welcome to the best online Chevelle restoration manual in the world
1badss396 Jan 5th, 06, 1:18 PM Welcome to TC. And congrats on the Vert across the big pond. Good too see another vert owner, I dont see any propeller or floatation devices on the side of your vert so you can drive it across the pond, LOL
it needs a lot of work, so expect lots of Dumb questions soon.:clonk:
Welcome to the best site on the net! And remember that those who don't ask the dumb questions often end up doing dumb things. ;)
One thing you will find useful is the search function. A ton of questions (dumb or not) have already been answered, so you'll find a wealth of info in the archives.
obseSSed Jan 5th, 06, 2:14 PM Welcome aboard :hurray: Just how many ole chevies are over there anyway?
Dustinyork Jan 6th, 06, 7:26 PM woohoooo ! welcome aboard
SS4speed Jan 6th, 06, 9:20 PM Jack,
As many have already said "Welcome to the Best Chevelle site on the Web".
Norwich, that's over in the East of England if I remember correctly. It's a city, fairly big, but not like what London has become. Plus you drive on the other side of the road, and some of your roads are a bit narrow. It has to be a bit of a pain to drive a Chevelle around town. I'm always amused when I see a large American car sitting over there parked. Most that I have seen are in bad shape, in the London area. I do like how your Speed trap cameras are setup. Wish they did that here, and got rid of the speed traps we use. I often get to travel over to London, Wales, and a few trips to Scotland (plus N. Ireland now and then). The south of England is a great place for a vacation, but the north is a bit dry, imo. Next time I have a trip over to the U.K., I'll let you know ahead of time. Maybe I can drag over a few parts you need....if their not too big.
Fred.
Chris R Jan 7th, 06, 7:01 PM It looks like it is still left hand drive. Must be wierd to drive like that over there.

I think it's just mine that's in bad shape, Here's a few pic's i've taken over the last few years of (mostly) US cars over here.

Thanks for the offer of bringing parts over, Do you think a complete Quarter panel might be a bit big for handluggage?:D
1badss396 Jan 11th, 06, 11:06 AM Just have him duct tape the door, fenders, quarter, and bumpers all together for ya as carry on luggage, LOL
