I just bought a car not to long ago and am wondering about the paint it definitely needs a new paint job but i am wondering do they paint everything as to around the glass, under the hood and etc. not to sure but the idiot who painted it before painted it green and did not like it so they painted it blue above that then they did not like that so they put black above that and now the paint is all cracking because someone did not sand and prep it, it goes to show you a TRUE idiot sometimes http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, I know that if you get a new paint job...they will charge you extra to paint the underside of the hood. They might give you a discounted rate if you do it all at once. Another thing is, if the paint is cracking and your saying that this idiot has changed the colors numerous times...I would be hesitant to put a new paint job over that stuff. You see, if the job wasn't prepared right. Then you might end up having problems in the future with the stuff underneath your new paint job. I would ask the guy at the shop to look at it. Since I am unable to see the cracking, I can't tell you how bad the previous preparation was. Or just make sure the guy guarantees the job if he isn't going to strip the paint underneath. Hope this helps.

If it's got that much paint on it you better strip the whole damn thing. Especially if your going to shell the money out to get it looking nice again.
You'll even lose some weight off of it in the end.
Better to start from bare metal so you know what you got.

Paint stripper! Ah yuk what a mess and the smell yuk! Lots of work ahead of you there. Striping cars, I love it, gotta know were your heading with that stuff though.
