Greetings everyone. Would anyone know where I can locate specific production numbers of the 45,923 Canadian built '70 Chevelles/Malibus to determine the number of Z25 SS-396 equipped for that year?

OK, I'm answering my own question. According to Mr. Zapora, GM vintage specialist, there were only 3,306, 1970 Chevelles with the Z25 packages exported to the U.S.
Maybe this bit of info will help others determine the rarity / value of their rides.

GM of Canada may have real figures but one can calculate the probabilities. Of 633,944 (incl. Canada) Chevelles built in 1970, 53,599 were Z25 equipped - or about 8.5% of the total. Taking 8.5% of the 45,923 produced in Canada gives you 3,903.

Today I'd say there's probably over 100,000 "SS396" 70 Chevelles out there and eBay has half of them at any one time for sale. :clonk:

Yea Dale, I hear ya. But of the "100,000" how many are authentic?
As I've said before, not real rare, but real special. And she's a driver not a trailer queen.
I read Old Car Trader, and the prices being asked for these clones is unbelieveable!!

FWIW, in 1969 there were only 903 Z25 SS396 Chevelles built in Canada. We probably got quite a few sent up from Baltimore though.

Did you get your buildsheet from GM of Canada? I got the buildsheet on my Canadian 71 and it broke the production numbers down into how mans SS's, auto v manual's, and I think how many with the 454.

My old 4 speed 70 SS396 was a Canadian built car..sometimes I do miss it.
The Canadian documentation is very cool to have.
Kinda like what PHS does with Pontiacs
