Where can a person get threaded smooth top grill rivots? Someone told me about them, so I called a place called Late Great Chevy's, and they said their's wouldn't fit a chevelle grill. Is this true, or is there someplace else to get them that will work? Thanks Mike

I have never seen threaded smooth type rivets.
On my '67 I use a long punch and peen the factory style rivets, takes time and be careful not to scratch the grill, tiebar or filler panel.
I have done this 3 times now with excellent results.
As I said take your time and it will be well worth it,Original style rivets peened like the factory did looks 100 times better than incorrect rivets, screws or bolts.

I used some real nice Chrome Button head bolts and I think they look better than a stock rivet.

I used the ones from LGC's on my 66 Chevelle and they fit perfectly. From the top, they look just like a factory type rivet. On the bottom, they have a small nut.

Sure beats pounding in the original type! I don't think I would have had a grill left by the time I got half of them in. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif

And as an added bonus, I can easily and quickly remove my grill for polishing purposed if I want.

Unless your a die hard down to nuts and bolts restorer, I highly recommend using these.

They don't list them as being for a Chevelle that I know of. I bought them for a 63 Impala and used them in the Chevelle.

Mike, the grill rivits should work out just fine for you. Late Great Chevy's P.O. Box 608108 Orlando, Fl. 32860 Phone # 407-886-1963. I haven't installed my grill yet so can't contest to how they will look. Got to be much easier than trying to pound rivits. Part # 48/220.
