View Full Version : Progress Pics
GRN69CHV Jan 3rd, 06, 6:54 PM Here are some progress pics. The body was taken off and the chassis redone in 2004, then reassembled and driven until Jan. 05. Body was stripped this year and is now finally ready for BB/CC. The black you see around the wheelwell and 1/4 panel is epoxy that was shot over the weekend where I had sanded through the 2K. Fenders and hood are very nice. I had done some dent repair over epoxy and shot a seal coat of epoxy over the weekend on these also. All of this will now stay as is until the weather breaks here, then all I need to do is prep for a sealer (intend to shoot a seal coat of white epoxy prior to BC/CC. Motor shown in the car is the 408 motor that is coming out. I managed to get it stripped down yesterday. All that is left is to drain the coolant, remove the top 3 bolts of the trans and the motor mount bolts - all considered a very productive weekend. And of course, last but not least, the new 460CI motor - sitting patiently on the stand. As soon as I get the new motor in, I will get the interior ready for reinstall and stored. All that will be left is a couple of productive weekends to reassemble. This will be a 100% rebuilt '69 Chevelle, every bolt and nut will been removed and either cleaned or replaced in the process.

GRN69CHV Jan 4th, 06, 7:13 AM The pictures make things look less further along than they are. But the amount of work that has went into getting the body to this point is quite significant, definitely a lot more than a typical sand out the nicks, prime and repaint type of paint job.

69-CHVL Jan 4th, 06, 12:28 PM Car looks even better in person. Joe is a little wacko-annal retentive which is good when your doing bodywork/restoring.

I'm sure that was meant in the highest regard ;) :D j/k
I've talked to Joe before..I can tell he likes to do it once and do it right, and when it comes to bodywork, thats the only way to be
I'm sure hoping one of these days I can meet both of you.
GRN69CHV Jan 4th, 06, 2:32 PM You should have seen how bad I was before they got me on "medicine"!
But seriously, no matter how hard we all try, there is always something that will get by. I am sure I am like most guys here though, the journey is often much more fun than the destination. That's the "KOOL" factor with these cars. All you need are some basic skills, basic tools and an interest in what you are doing, the rest just seems to fall into place. The key for me has been getting to the point where you can walk away for a while, knowing that you are over the hump and you now have a vehicle on the way towards completion and not an Ebay Project on your hands.
Phil Keller Jan 4th, 06, 2:40 PM It's a peach! Great job.
