Wow..... turned out excellent! Looks new. There are some serious tricks to this I have found.

1) Sand the frame very good. If the first coat(s) looks rough sand it. I found that the screen sandpaper strips used on sheetrock worked the best by far.

2) Use those dense foam mini rollers! I took 3 hours for the first coat on the first side with a brush and I had to sand out a few hairs and a lot of runs. The foam mini roller coats take less than an hour and NO runs!

3) Their topcoat product goes a long way with the foam rollers. I have done one side 3 coats and used 1/3 quart! The topcoat foams up with thousands of bubbles with the foam roller and I thought I was having a disaster in the making...... don't worry! Wait until the coat starts to "tack" and the foam roller wipes them out.

4) Put the coats on "VERY" thin! No runs and no bubbles.

I do think that POR 15 would be a lot better if it didn't want to get those thousands of bubbles as they sure made me nervous at first!

Isn't POR-15 a beautiful thing? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif I've been using this stuff for 5+ years-the resto shop I used to work at used it.(Automotive Restorations,Stratford,CT)Incredible stuff.I did the frame and undercarriage on my 70 SS about 4 years ago, still looks as good as the day I did it.

Plan on doing the frame on my new 70 real soon. Glad to hear the stuff works out like it does. What did you use on the underside of your floor pans?

The floor pans were undercoated, probably when the car was new. There is no rust except for surface rust where the undercoat has been scraped off or peeled off in some small areas. I am just painting it flat black. I will be putting undercoating back on the spots it is missing to keep it looking as it must have in 1969. Which really means I am not about ready to try and strip it off!
