I was thinking of using DCU2010 speedclear 2.1 by PPG over my DBC basecoat. I will put on 2 coats waiting the 5-10min. for flash between coats and then let it air dry at 70Deg.for a few days and then wet sand it with a soft block with 1000 and then 1500 grit and then apply 2 more coats to finish, does this sound like the best highest gloss clear? Thanks Zach

I think the 2 best clears in the PPG deltron line are 2042 and 2055 with 2055 being the best.

Ive found that these SPEED clears are not as durable as normal clears. I base that statement using 2 PPG speed clears, 2082 and dc3000. Either one have the durabilty of 2042 or 2055. Also Ive seen that they tend to yellow, especially with 2082.

I think with the "SPEED" clears you gain speed and easy of application, they spray great but lose in other areas

Something I forgot to add ive never heard of that 2010 clear, but that doesnt mean PPG dont make such an animal.

Also the speed clears Ive used from PPG both are harder to sand and buff then the regular clears like, 2021, 2042 and 2055.

Dc3000 Ive found needs to be even sanded with something finer then 2000 grit or scratches will still remain visable.

Not saying that 2082 or dc3000 clears are junk, I LOVE dc3000 but used on an overall paintjob such as a classic car or truck, theres better options...Eric

Do you have to use the 2.1 clears in your area? This is a clear for a highly VOC regulated area. It is VERY high in solids and other solvents such as Acetone, very heavy solvents. So if you don't have to use the 2.1 clears, don't.

I am not 100% certain on this being I am not a PPG user. However, in every product I know, when you see 2.1, 3.5, 4.6 and so on it is refering to the VOC weight in the product. There are regulations and the lower the number the more "VOC friendly" it is. The old urethane clears were over twice that much at about 4.8 or more.

I used the 2010 on my car. I sprayed the interior and my painter did the exterior. It is a great product but can be a little tricky. We have found that you should add the maximum amount of reducer that the tech sheets say and even go to a slower hardener for the temp range you shooting in. This clear really needs time to flow. Im no expert but this info is coming from 2 painters that use this product. The finish it left on my car is amazing, very deep and wet looking. Good luck.
