I saw an add in the classifieds for a Canadian built 67 SS. The ad states that the Canadian cars have the body color on the firewall as well as the underside of the hood. Both my Canadian built 67's, one SS and one Malibu both have the undersides of the hood semi or flat black from the factory. Can someone tell me if some of the cars did come from Oshawa with body color under the hood, or is that car inaccurate?

Scott , IMO underhood cdn cars are body color ........however is your 67 SS a Malibu SS or a Supersport ?? early 67 were Malibu SS and should be body color but later April / May build 67 were true SuperSports and those "may" have been black not sure on that .......

Bill, the SS is not a malibu SS, It is Supersport 396, that was born on April 5th of '67. My Malibu was born on June 15th of '67, as I stated before, on both cars there is no doubt the underhood color is black from the factory. How about the non SS cars, were some of those painted body color too?

not an expert on 67's especially the late build cars so I defer to others on that, however the Malibu I still would say sb body color SS were only ones to get black firewall / underhood in US/CA

Do a search on here for a member called..... "emdoller" from Calif he has / had a CDN 67 SS out of Alberta i can't recall if it was a malibu SS or a late cdn build SuperSport ( I think SuperSport) he did a lot of checking to get details correct lots of posts /pics of his car

I did that search and found what I was looking for. It turns out the car that is owned by emdoller is the same car I saw in the classifieds. I saw the Ebay auction for the car and looked at all the pictures.In one of the following posts, Cam from Toronto, who from reading his posts here on T.C., seems to be very knowledgeable on the Canadian '67 cars states something like,
" Personally I'd want the trunk body color, and go with the black on the underside of the hood to make it more correct"
That explains why I thought that car to be inconsistant. Both my SS and my Malibu also have the trunk painted body color not spattered.
Cam, if you read this, is the underside of your malibu hood black also?
