Just finished installing all new trunk trim pieces on my Malibu. I must say the quality seemed pretty decent except for the flimsy attaching hardware. I do have a problem. The lower thick piece by the lock is 'bowed' out further than my old piece. As a result, it doesn't tighten up near the lock and looks pretty ugly. What do you think I should do? I could return the piece and hope for a better one. Thanks for any suggestions!

John,
Are you talking about the original pot metal trim part or the extruded aluminum aftermarket reproduction part that recently became available? After I had my trunk trim parts re-chromed, I also thought that the lower trim was a little too bowed-out in the middle (probably from working on it at the chrome shop). I straightened it out a little so that the trim mounted flush with the trunk at the lock cylinder and started tightening the mounting bolts at the center and worked out to the outside edges. With either the pot metal or aluminum trim part, if you are careful, you should be able to straighten out the trim slightly to eliminate the bulge in the center.
