Hi all

I"m wondering if I could get some help de coding the cowl tag numbers on my 1969 SS Conv. Chevelle. No luck in finding build sheet. The car has been mine for 22 years. I guess I would have found it by now.

Here it is.

Model - ST 69
Div Series - 13667
Assy Plant. I got that one, Baltimore
Unit # - 260017
TR - I can only read three numbers 788
Lower body color - 10 A PNT

I can't read Time Built Code

Tag is also stamped L184345

Thanks for your help
David

Hi David,

Haven't heard from you in ages :D :waving:

'13667' - '136' is an 8 cylinder Malibu; '67' is a convertible body.

'260017' is an internal Fisher Body code which means essentially nothing.

'TR' (trim) should only have 3 numbers following it, so 788 is correct and means red vinyl bucket seats.

'10 A PNT' - 10 is Tuxedo black lower body color; A is white convertible top.

Just below the 'TR 788' should be a 2 number, one letter code; this is the month and week your car's body was scheduled for production. For the month, '01' means January, '02' means February, etc.; for the week, 'A' means the first week, 'B' means the second week, etc. Many times the rivet holding the tag in place obscures part of this code, making it difficult to read.

'L184345' is an internal assembly plant code which means essentially nothing.

Hey Bill! Guess there's another David in AZ with a 'vert. I sold mine a year or so ago, got an offer I just couldn't refuse. Just limping along with my '33 and a new C6 now. Looking into another Chevelle or Camaro in the future.

Yes it has been a long time Bill. Thanks for the information!! So far, everything I was told about the car from the first owner is true.
