: HEI and an original tach

I have a 65 malibu ss and I put an HEI in it,
what I need to know is if I can simply hook an original tach from a 66 chevelle to it or will it burn up the tach, any help will be apreciated

I have an HEI and use the stock tach hooked up to the tach lead on the coil lead and have had no problems at all with this at all, and the tach works just like stock. Hope this helps you.

My facory tach is hooked to the HEI, no problems..

Thank you for your replies, these and some of the other topics have led me to belive that it won't burn up my tach, I'm going to try it tomorrow and I see if it works

I wish you the best. They are easy to wire up. I have one in my 68, and it works fine too(now that I have a good solid connection).
