: "Chemical Pops" in paint and/or clearcoat????!!!

When the '70 was in an accident in November I tossed around the idea of having the whole car done at the same time. Well they wanted BIG $$$. So that wasn't possible at the time.
Anyway, part of the expense was stripping the car, even though it only has one paint job on it. The last time it was painted it was taken completely down.
They wanted to stip the car down because of what they called "chemical pops". What you see is what would appear to be little bumps throughout the paint. I'm not sure if it's just the clearcoat or if it's under the paint. Gives the impression that the car has a case of goosebumps. We're also experiencing ALOT of clearcoat flaking off.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
(Philip is gonna have a blast with this one.)

nah today I am picking on someone else.
It is my understanding that it comes from incompatable types of paint. Did the repainted panel show any signs of it? If not why would the rest of the car. I have only seen clear coat flake off when not done properly. Most ofthe time from being applied to thin and only one coat. My 70 had 4 coats put on and then a light sanding and buffing and after 9 years it still looked like new.

Its called "solvent pop", happens when the paint is over reduced. Just needs to be wetsanded flat, and proceed from there with a sealer coat if you arent stripping the car.

seems funny that the clear is peeling off also,it might be that the paint or more likely the air made from the aircompresser was oil contaminated,if that is the case i say strip it.
