I have a slight fluttery metallic sound coming from the drivers side of the engine when it's under load at either 1800 or 2200 rpm (or at least thats when i can hear it)

can only hear it when the windows are up and such so its not too loud but it has me paranoid

at first i thought it was just the exhaust pipe hitting the crossmember since its a tight fit, but i popped the hood and can hear a light tapping

my best guesses are something in the HEI or valve spring/rocker arm

oil is perfectly clean and the engine is running as strong as ever

any other ideas before I pull the valve cover? since its driver side I have to remove the AC and such, but at this point my dads guess is loose valve/weak or broken spring/ or something of that sort

I had a similar situation with light tapping noise at low RPM with the engine under load. It just about made me pull my hair out trying to figure out where it was coming from. Discovered it was some loose bell housing bolts allowing the tranny to vibrate against the block. It just about turned me into a mental case trying to figure it out.
I hope you find your problem.
