Ok here is the scoop. I pulled the sheet metal cover off the smugglers box on my 64 elcamino, and what I found was interesting to say the least. Inside were two inner tubes filled with approx. 250 # of dirt. I don't know how long they have been in there but there bottom half of the inner tubes was completely decomposed and became part of the dirt.
My question is were can I get repair panels for the floor boards that are rotted by the wheel wells, the angled piece that goes from the floor board to the bed, and the support frame? I think I am going to have to fab alot of this...so any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if they mean what they say, but Ground Up lists '64-'67 El Camino Front and REAR floor pans.

Most of the companies selling body panels list 1 pc. floor pans as well as 2 pc. If you look at their measurements, both repair only the cab area.
I also need to replace the floor of the smuggler's box. Previously, 66 LKmno posted that he repaired his using floor pans intended for under the rear seat of a passenger Chevelle. I asked for p/n's & pics but none were posted.
Does anyone have experience with this repair?

That area is not actually part of a floor pan. It would be the under-seat area in a car or station wagon.

OK, but what I want to know is why someone was smuggling inner tubes full of dirt in your El Camino.....

The El Camino store shows 2 pc. & 1 pc., but no listing for the smuggler's box.
Again, I ask, does anyone have experience with this repair?
If so, can you provide p/n's & pics?

In comparing whats left of the existing pans and what i see in the catalog, it looks like they have the same reliefs...we will see.

By the way, when you remaove 250 lbs. from the rear of the el camino it sure does ride a whole lot better.

Thanks again.

I have studied at length the photos of the under the rear seat floor pans on Goodmark's web site. IT APPEARS they would work. However, I can't get any confirmation. I suppose I will order those pieces along with floor pans for the front, & if they don't fit, struggle with the aggravation of returning them.
Either way, I will document & post the results.

Mike, this area of the floorpan is the footwell of the rear seat passenger area of the station wagon. My was rusted thru and was licky enough to purchase the complete unit form one of our members in Phoenix Az. Not only did he cut it out completly including the sides and bed support but brought it up here to the NW when visiting friends on his vacation. I would think that an experienced body man could patch the areas, and fab in the bed support with a 1x2 tube, supported on the ends. I don't know any where that you could get new panels for the early Chevelles. I think the later, 68 stationwagon may be advailable.
