Iv'e heard of using spray can paint for a guide coat when blocking the primer for final finishing. What kind of paint should I be using? My final paint will be BC/CC and I wasn't sure if I should stay away from certain types of guide coat paint (i.e. enamel or lacquer). Thanks guy's!! Mike, M22

Go to your auto paint store and you will find a number of brands of cans labeled "Guide Coat". You can't go wrong with them.

3M makes a cool guide coat. Its like black chalk almost. You rub it on with an applicator pad and it stays on until you sand it off.works very well.Try your auto body supply store, they should have it.Or you could use good old black laquer.

On primer, I'd make sure to use the real guide coat. Cheap laquer paints may bleed into the primer more and cause you to sand more then needed. Possible thru the primer.

Real guide coat is laquer.Shouldn't penetrate a good 2k prime.
