Maybe you can get a "check" from your credit card company and let him sit on it for the 10 days to clear... This way you can reverse the charges if he doesn't send the parts.

Or if it's not alot, use Paypal? I think they offer protection too.

It will cost you more for shipping, but he could send it C.O.D. Otherwise, depending on the cost of the parts, I usually take a chance. I haven't been burned yet. Get his phone number and give him a call. You can tell a lot from somebody by talking to them.

use a postal mo and send it with tracking
if you get burned you can forward it all to the local pd where hes at
they should make a house call for you and usually your stuff shows up a few day later like magic

IMO, Not a big deal really. I buy stuff online all the time to support my "habit"...done it hundreds of times. And, lucky or whatever, I've only been burned once...by a business no less, that just so happen to go belly up one week after receiving my funds. :(
You've just kind of have to have a sixth sense about the deal and the person you're dealing with.
As mentioned, use a USPS money order.

You can use Pay-Pal for any purchase as long as the seller agrees. It does not have to be on E-bay.

I've used USPS money orders many times and have bought stuff from members here and on two other boards, so far, all is good. :)

Postal Money Order protects you. I had a guy try to rip me off once. I filed a complaint with the US postal inspector and they threatened to withhold his mail until it was resolved. It's considered mail fraud and that is a Federal offense. Needless to say I got my item in the mail 2 days later!. Highly recommend USPS money orders.
