I seen that listing, seems too cheap compared to most ebay listings he sould have added "ultra rare" "ls6" "Yenko"
with out those words and an overly high buy it now price, it just doesnt seem right being on ebay.

I think it's cheap because it looks like it has a lot of pitting on the housing.

And it's an open rear with crummy gears

and in reality that's all it is worth. Pick it up!

I just sold one (same gears too) for $300 - about the going price around here for a '68-72... doesn't seem like a that great of deal to me. Fair, but not a steal.

Heck, I just bought a '66 4.10 posi 12-bolt for $450 :hurray:

Sounds about the right price. I thought they only had 3.08 gears and not 3.07. The 3.07 gears are from the trucks. I have a 12 bolt housing anybody interested.

Looks to me like it could be an XJ code which is a 71 passenger car. Beware...do your homework. I notice in his discription he says it was "removed from a 70 Chevelle" maybe theres a reason he took it out. I can't find an XT code maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong, as far as I know all 70 codes are 3 letters.

XJ = 1971 Passenger Car 3.08:1 Posi
K = GM of Canada
10 9 = Jan. 69
E = Eaton posi unit

XT is the Pontiac A-body 70-72 3.07 posi . The Chevy (Chevelle) 12 bolt was used for the Pontiac A-bodies with 455 engine .
It is a 71-72 format axle date, 109 is the unit day of year it was assembled, not the casting date..

It is a Chevelle, Monte Carlo, El Camino or Malibu wagon 12 bolt rear end. The price is not bad if it is good inside. You can bet that the axles will have to be replaced. I haven't removed a good set of axles from one of these in a long time. The differential has been out, so the backlash might not be set right. Plan on a rebuild when you buy one like this. I won't sell one in this condition without rebuilding it first.

The 3.08 is a 10-bolt gear ratio (37/12) and the 3.07 is a 12-bolt ratio (43/14).

Yeah, i bought a 12 bolt for my 70 from a team member here about 3 years ago. Saw it was in my area out of a wrecked car. 12 bolt, 3.55 gears, posi, only about 3K miles on rebuild. Got it for $600
