hp396 Dec 20th, 05, 9:20 PM Thanks for your help it is greatly appriciated .
Don_Lightfoot Dec 20th, 05, 9:32 PM Just to clarify the "57 S" opposite PNT.
Fathom Green (57) with Green vinyl top (S).
SDSS396 Dec 21st, 05, 11:29 AM Here's what it could like like restored (same codes as mine). Mine's missing the SS stripe. Can't yet convince myself to apply it over the paint. I just changed the vinyl roof from black to the correct green. Some may cringe over the green vinyl roof, but it's really grown on me and looks very period correct - I personally dig it.
Good luck with the car.

hp396 Dec 22nd, 05, 12:45 PM Im having trouble findinthe numbers from my block to correspond or cross reference with the vin#to get some info as to weather this is a numbers match car
SDSS396 Dec 22nd, 05, 3:49 PM Here's a good reference site about how to decode the numbers. It's for a Camaro, but the locations are very similar for Chevelles.
http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#EngineNumbers
For reference, here's what the partial VIN looks like on my Chevelle: (you may need to wire-brush the area clean if there's a lot of grease, rust, etc at this location. The last 7 characters should match the last 7 charaters of you VIN to be considered the "Original Engine".
