I assume about anything can be chromed to some degree, but can aluminum trim such as the grille mouldings be chromed successfully (i.e. will it stay on and hold up over time)? I know it isn't "original", but it would possibly look better...
Thanks for any knowledgeable (or other) insight!

Yes, in a word it can be chromed and it will be like any other metal that is chromed.
Of course, on my Buicks, there is NO aluminum trim, it is all polished Stainless or pot metal and chromed.
Just had to put in a little plug for the lowly Buick smile.gif http://www.buicks.net/forum/graemlins/shield.gif

They can be chromed, but you may not like the result. I think you would be happier just polishing the aluminum. I have been slowly polishing the grill for my 68 for months. Polishing is probably cheaper too.

I agree with TimC, you will not like the look. I saw a 65 that had the grill chromed and it didnt do the car any justice.

I had my aluminum valve covers chromed and they are awesome. Why do you think the bikes went to chromed alum? Less maintenence and looks better all the time, no water spotting too.

It will need to be copper or nickel plated first most likely. After that they chrome it and repolish it.
