i was ready to repaint my hood only but, on my final primer surfacer coat i sanded through to bare metal in a couple spots (when i say final coat, i mean, i have no more primer)...what to do?...must i get more primer?...i have a rattle can of primer sealer, is it ridiculous to trust all the preceeding work to a couple lil' spots of spray can primer?

Being the furthest thing from an expert, I think that I would obtain some more of the original primer. It just seems that there are too many "reaction" possibilities, why take a risk, considering the price of paint and the amount of work invested in any paint job.

If nothing else, this will pop the thread back to the top for the experts to answer. I know that your really hoping for someone to say "no problem".

Don't count on it.

If you use the rattle can, you might find it either lifting what you've already put down, or messing up your paint with little bitty bubbles around the edge.

you really should re-prime those spots, it's actually cheap compared to the alternative.
