: Removing 69 front corner moldings

I believe the terms for these moldings are "eyebrow" and "lower grill extension". According to the Assembly Manual the eyebrow has two studs with speed nuts and the extension has three studs. I can get access to the three nuts shown in "white" but can't seem to access the two nuts shown in "yellow". What do I need to do to get at those two nuts?

Would like to take them off for buffing. Appreciate it.

Take out the hole corner grill there should be screws below your yellow dots and one at the top then you can get down inside to reach your nuts.

Hey Don is this on that 69post I,ve seen wow it's nice.

I had to replace one of my grille extensions and if I remember right, I took out the whole thing THEN removed the trim. I accessed it through the headlight hole.

Don,
Dave is right. You'll need to remove the Headlight Trim and then the Eyebrow Molding and the you should be able to remove the Grill Extension as an assy. Once you have it in your hand you'll have access to the nuts.

That is if you don't already have your nuts in your hand as Dwayne has suggested! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

That trim piece is anodized isnt it?. Always makes me nervous when I hear the word "buffing" on a piece of anodized. Would suggest being very careful. Sounds like youve had plenty of help "finding" those nuts . HAHA

I believe they are stainless, but they could be aluminum. Will proceed accordingly on either account. Removed the anodizing on the headlight buckets last year and buffed them up.

Don,

How did you remove the anodizing? I understand this is some pretty tough stuff!
It seems some trim is anodized aluminium and others are polished stainless?

Brian, spray with Easy-Off Oven Cleaner, let it soak for a while and rinse with water. Might need to repeat the process a few times. May need to use some very fine sandpaper or steel wool as well.

Doesn't always work by the way. Last year I had a local guy hire me to buff all the trim on a 60 Impala convertible (seemed like there was about 10 miles of trim http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif), there were a couple of aluminum pieces I just could not get the anodizing off.
