Hi guys, I recently bought a new truck. The truck has a 700r4 in it for a transmission. I was given a B&M trans kit with all new clutches and such with the truck, as well as a 10" 2500 stall convertor.

Does anyone know anything about these B&M trans kits? Is it worth my time of pulling the trans, installing, and putting the trans back in?

Thanks,
Joe Phillips

You dont have to pull the trans, it takes about 2-3 hours, its not hard at all, just time consuming and is slowed down by double checking everything. Deffinately worth it, allows you to shift much faster.

A friend of mine put the cheaper B&M shift improver kit into their 87 Trans Am..pretty happy with the results

I have to put the torque convertor in anyway, So i'll probably just pull the trans. Thanks guys, I'll put the trans stuff in and buy the locker so I can put my 3.90 gears in as well.

Thanks again,

I built my TH-350 with a B&M Trans Kit. The one thing I wish I had done was pay someone to machine a part (can't remember which one, I think it was an aluminum piston) so that I could install another clutch. Also when I talked to the local trani. guy about the kit he said he didn't like how the B&M kit uses the little plastic balls to make the trani. shift quicker. Apparently that's not the best way, but my trani. works great.

Will never use B&M. I will only go with Transgo they are the best shift kit guys.

b&m vs transgo, it depends on which transmission your building? i really dont like transgo for much of anything except for some latemodel tranny's, they use very cheap springs on some transmissions (700r4) that seem to break. and i do a ton of trannsmissions. for high performance i like b&m for most tranny's, but you have to put the right stuff in the trans to make it live!!

I've done B&M kits with their valvebody kits, not the shift improver-don't know why they make those they don't do anything. The tranny does not shift as quick and as firm as it should. I use the transgo kit with TCI or Hughes tranny kits and they deliver tire blazing instant shifts and seem to last forever.I usually only do Th-350 and 400 trannys but have done a few 700r4's with great luck.I also will not buy a B&M torque converter, they don't stall where they should and don't last.I also use hughes converters.
