I just received my energy suspension bushing kit for my control arms. The kit comes with poly bushings for the upper and lower arms. I am now a little confused about the upper arm pivot. My arms have a grease fitting on both sides. There is no bushing in this setup. This is kind of hard to explain. Are there different types of pivot point setups on these a bodies?

Sounds like somebody has already replaced your bushings with either solid pivots or Teflon pivots.

Thanks Dennis. The holes in the control arm are threaded both sides. There is a large head bolt?? with a grease fitting in the end. It screws into the arm while the piece that bolts to the frame screws into the "bolt" There is a rubber boot over the end. I probably confused the heck out of you with this explanation.

Sounds like an early Mustang control arm to me ???? Dont think I have ever seen that type on a Chevy.

I think we went through this awhile back. Buick a-bodies used that style control arm.

I had a pair of those on my factory stock '72 chevelle. This car had never been in a wreck (I had the whole front end sheetmetal off) and was literally driven by an old lady from the day it was new so I was pretty sure someone hadn't replaced them with this wierd setup. I ended up replacing the upper control arms and "normal" cross shaft and bushings. Direct replacement and I'm on my way.
