I have a U.S. Safety brand that I cannot buy cartridges for locally. Can you advise on a good respirator that I can get replacements for easily ? Where would I buy this respirator ?

3M and SAS safety both make good respirators.

Any body shop store should have paint respirators.

Even try ebay or a web search for other companies that sell over the net.

well, i proably use the worst one around, dont really know, they come from my local hardware store. there around 40$. they have a 2 stage screw on filter that is replacable. also, the filters are 3" in diamiter. SOOOOOO, i use 2 pieces of flexable hose (like dryer vent hose only 3") then i duct tape this over the filter cartridges and run it as long as i need it. most of the time i just closepin it behind my back for sand blasting. i think the key is one that fits your face, ive tried several and the one i use is VERY old but it fits my face.

I think you answered part of your own question. I would visit you local parts store that you use and find out what selection they have. Any name brand should work fine for you.

Personnally I have a MSA Advantage half mask with a set of HEPA cartridges and a set of Organic Vapor cartridiges. The mask is cheap $10 so if it gets beat up you can replace it easily and the cartridges are $6 and $15 a set. The reason that I have the MSA is I work with the local MSA rep. regularly on our fire department SCBA's.
