Guys, I'm trying to remove my trunklock cyl. on my 72. I did a search and found several answers. So far, I've tried everything mentioned in the search. The clip retaining screw (not a rivet) is out, and I've tried removing it with channel locks and/or vicegrips, but to no avail. It will move out slightly,(approx 1/4"), but will not release. Am I missing something or do I just need to use more force? Do I need to remove the latch assembly to do this? I'm getting ready to prime soon, and would rather not leave it on and mask it off. Many thanks for any input, Dennis

After you remove the phillips screw from the lock retainer you have to pry the retainer back with a good screw driver. The clip will not come out completely but will slide back far enough to release the lock cylinder assembly. Some times they can be a little tough to get out.

Thank you very much musclecarkid. I got it out. I thought the clip had to come all the way out as they do in the doors. I didn't even think about pulling up on the lock when the clip was out so far graemlins/clonk.gif It came out easily. Thanks again, Dennis
