Most I have talked to tell me correct underbody color is some type of black , but my Jan. built Canadian SS appears to have had a grey finish ?? like a battleship grey car was never undercoated and in top of trans tunnel and above rear end can still see this grey finish ...can anyone confirm this correct and what finish should I use to duplicate??

If I remember correctly, the Canadian cars weren't the same as US built cars, but a 66/Canadian expert will have to confirm.

I'm not an expert, but I can say that I found nothing but body colour underneath my Oshawa-built '67. Mine also left the factory with enamel paint as denoted by the '9' on the cowl tag beside the paint code. A friend's mother used to have a '66 Beaumont in Marina Blue that had blue floors top & bottom (until they rusted out & it went to the scrap heap).
I don't know what to tell you about the grey. I am curious about that myself. I do know that older Chevies (shoebox types) used to have red oxide primer underneath in the U.S. and body-colour in Canada. Maybe grey primer?
I can remember many other Canadian Chevelles and Beaumonts from the past but where are they now? Our climate and use of road salt are certainly not kind to them.
