Hey guys, i have a couple questions. What kind of price should i expect to pay for a full sand down and BC CC with stripes and mounting emblems. Also, i need to know if you guys had GREAT service from a specific paint shop in louisiana or East Texas. Please offer any advice you have on paint shops and prices. Thanks in advance

I'll answer the easy part first. Go to www.chevelles.com (http://www.chevelles.com) and click on Paint Codes on the left side of the page.

To estimate the cost of a paint job, are you changing the color? therefore needing to do the door jams and inside of trunk lid or are you just doing the "outside"?
Also, until the paint is stripped you have no idea how much repair work is needed, i.e. old rust or accident repairs hidden by the current paint.
Also, do you want the car " scuffed & buffed" ???
All of these items add to the cost which can range from $2K-$5K
With shop labor cost between $40-$50 per hour it doesn't take long to run up the tab...

It cost me $600 to have my car media blasted to bear metal. Top quality paint job was about $5,500.00 Included stripes and wet sanding at least 4 times. Certainly could have spent less. Depends upon what outcome you want. Just got her back from the paint shop 4 weeks ago. Now all I need to do is put everything back on her....bumpers etc. You'll save some money if you take off all the chrome, door handles, bumpers, weather stripping yourself.

Be aware that after you strip her she's going to be a little ugly and all her blimishes are going to show. Be prepared to either put some labor in yourself to fix or pay to have them fixed before priming and painting.

Thanks Bill, say, what part of NH are you from. I am moving there in the future. My Wife is from there and that where i am moving when i get out of the air force. Anyway, it is being repainted the same color. The body is great! but i suppose it would cost less to take all the bumpers, lights, and such off first. the paint needs to be stripped. Its getting kinda thick. Its been painted a few times in its life. Thanks for your help guys.

Merrimack is on the southern border /center of the state, between Nashua and Manchester if you are looking for Merrimack on a map.

Let us know when you're moving up this way. We have a lot of Chevelle's in the area and plenty of Cruise nights during the summer.
