: L-79 1965 malibu lost
Lost L-79 help Dec 8th, 05, 1:55 PM I am looking for a regal red 1965 L-79 car. bench seat 4sp car with factory tack on dash. red interior
vin number is 136375k217801.
car was bought new at nickey chevrolet. He sold it a few years ago, he dont know I am looking for it. I would like to buy it but my time is running out, I dont care about the shape or if it is still original. I just want him to have it back.
If you dont want to sell it, I understand. but Please let me know it is still out there. So I can stop the search. The car has drag race history that you will like to know about in several states.
I have tracked it to Louisville Ky, If you know where it is or maybe know, Or a friend has one like it. PLEASE let me know.I will pay a finders fee.
This is not a joke or stunt. I have documentation where it was ordered, built and paid for. As well as paper work where Dad sold it. Please help me if you can.
Thanks

LeoP Dec 8th, 05, 11:37 PM Good luck my friend and WELCOME to the BEST site on the net.
Chris R Dec 10th, 05, 1:32 PM Your post has me confused. Are you saying someone you know (dad?) had it and sold it. Now you are trying to find it and have tracked it to Ky? Sounds kind of like you want to find the car for him and supprise him with it or something?
AZCamino Dec 10th, 05, 8:37 PM Jeff,
I searched the registry here on Team Chevelle, but only came up with a record with no information other than a VIN. Did you try to check out the registry and leave the record with only a VIN? Anyone can leave a record, but only paying members can search. I came up with nothing otherwise.

sleeper Dec 10th, 05, 11:27 PM I don't know if I can help but I will try. If the car is in KY and is registered for any kind of title or license it should be on record. I have a few friends in place that have access to check this. If I can talk them into doing this I will let you know.
Lost L-79 help Dec 11th, 05, 8:41 AM Thanks for any help or attempt. Thanks

sleeper Dec 12th, 05, 3:52 PM Jeff, the vin number you listed in the first post is not titled in the state of KY. I suppose it is possible for the car to be here and not titled but it is not to be found on the DMV computers. It is my understanding the FBI can access everything in the nation, getting that done may be another story. Best of luck.

Lost L-79 help Dec 14th, 05, 11:00 AM Randy,
Thankyou,
The liscense plates on the car when it was sold in Lou, was a chicago ill plate, with the number "NY1063" I dont have a date. The car was in My mothers name,
Judy Carol Ray. the vin is 136375k217801. The paperwork said 1965 cheverolet Imp. I dont know if the typo was only on the paperwork I have or the title. The car could have been listed to the address of
63rd place, chicago or to Gudgel road in Louisville, They lived in louisville when it was sold, but I have paperwork under both addresses.
Thank you again for any attempt to help me.
Jeff Ray

31 chevy Dec 14th, 05, 7:50 PM I'm having some research done right now. I should know something by tomorrow, So hang tight.
You know you can go down to your local DMV and get the info packet to send to Frankfort for the title search. It was 20$ back 10 yrs ago when I was looking for my 70 SS.
It sent me all the previous addresses that the car was titled at, from new to current.

I think privacy laws enacted in the last few years have changed your ability to get this type of title information. It was a different world 10 years ago.
Lost L-79 help Dec 14th, 05, 9:31 PM the laws have been changed, they told me that at the dmv. they can no longer give name or address. she said they can only tell me if it is out of our name.
Thanks Guys for the help and input
Jeff
