I have a 72 chevelle, and I want to redo my decal, does anyone have a picture of theirs? Is the vin and date the only things on it, or does it have gvwr? I dont remeber, it was so long ago that I took mine off thanks

First of all, the stickers look GREAT. I just ran across this thread and as soon as I dig my vin numbers out I'll be ordering a couple.
Next thing: There's a guy named Dr. Dobbins (Murriel F. if I recall) that's been a big player in the Corvette resto hobby for decades. (I think he's a PHD, not an MD.) Anyhow, he published the Corvette Fact Book in several different varieties which is a very useful tool for correct restorations since it not only has hundreds of pages of statistics, but thousands of photos of original details. Most Corvette guys have his books. In the 80's he was repopping a lot of stickers also, including many of the horsepower ones for air cleaners, AND the GM mark of Excellence tag for the doors and the Vin number stickers similar to the ones shown here. My memory is a little foggy now on the details but I think GM filed some kind of formal complaint and the Feds (FBI I think) went in and shut him down cold and took his inventory, and also filed some felony charges. He faced some catastrophic legal bills because of it also. This was during the time that GM was just beginning to lower the hammer on anyone that was repopping parts without first getting a GM liscense. (hence the liscensed GM resto part logo on much of what we see today) Anyway, the last I heard Dr. Dobbins was again allowed to repop most of his stickers, but NOT the vin sticker for the door. I know there are Federal regulations in dealing with anything that pertains to Vin numbers, I just don't know what they are, but it may be better to know now than later.

I have the type of printer to print to a sticker very old style. OLD IBM printer. Their was a place to get the original color stickers but now all I have found is the dark blue ones. I think the original ones were teal blue color?
