: Desktop Dyno-question regarding blowers and CR

I just got Desktop Dyno today, it sure is addicting. I guess I'll finally run out of combos to try. One thing that is interesting is how little cam lift affects mini blown motors. I have had it said to me before, but the cams do not affect the blown motors peak torque as much as regular motors.

One question I had was using a small blower and changing the CR. I am having to put in the CR of the motor + what the boost adds into the CR field. I would have thought I would have had to put the NA CR and it would use the boost pressure to figure it out. If I put in for instance 9:1 CR with 7 lbs of boost, it doesnt run much better than a NA 9:1. If I put in 11.5:1, then it spits out the numbers I was expecting. Has anyone else found this to be the case?

67,
Not sure what numbers "you were expecting" but I put in a mild 9.0 to 1 350 and it picked up about 60 hp with 7 lbs of boost, probably a realistic number with no cam change etc, just changed from single plane carb to 177 Weand at 7 lbs. I think that most guys tend over estimate the power they will get.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Im not actually expecting that much, I have a 177 on a 350, and it runs great, but I know small blowers mostly boost low-mid rpm torque. I just built this motor that Golen has on Desktop Dyno:
http://www.golenengineservice.com/specs/html/383_500_sc.html

It comes out 60hp under their dyno(440vs500) if I go with the 8.2 CR. It comes out exactly the same hp wise if I use 11.2 CR(Golen uses 6psi)

I have seen two other builds in magazines(not worth much, I know) that use good flowing heads and small cams with a 350 and they both got around 500hp supposedly, so I was just wondering.

Edit: I really am not trying to make my current combo look as inflated on the imaginary dyno as I can, I am trying to figure out which way I want to go with a 406 shortblock I am about to get. I have considered dropping the blower and going with a slightly bigger cam if the results look really close to being the same, and they do.

So 406 with 200cc Iron Eagles, 218/230 comp cam nitrous edition
blower at 8.5:1 432hp/507tq
single plane 11:1 454hp/499tq

So I figure why bother with the blower on the 406 all else being equal.
