I am considering buying a used Hypertech programmer to use on my daily driver 2000 Silverado.
Can a used one be set back to it's factory defaults or are you stuck with it's previous settings?
Thanks!

To have a used Hypertech programmer work, you must reprogram the car that the Hypertech was used on back to stock. In other words, the Hypertech reprogrammer will only work for one car at a time. If it wasnt like that, Hypertech couldn't sell everyone a new programmer.

Granatelli is a much better unit. Also removes the speed limiter, sets tire size and can be used as a scan tool. Not all progammers do this. Granatelli is also one of the leaders in GenIII power enhancement.
Remember to set the factory tune back anytime the vehicle goes in for smog or to the dealer. If the dealer decides to flash the software for any reason (recall, update, they fell like it) it will lose the aftermarket tune forever and you will have to buy a new programmer. The vehicle will also not pass enhanced smog with the tune in place.

all i know is that amongst the f-body crowd, they're referred to as 'Hypercrap'. I've heard of people LOSING power on the dyno after applying a Hypertech 'tune'.

I have a hypertech programmer for my 03 GMC crew cab Diesel.
I have had no problems, or anything to complain about.
My hypertech does allow to callibrate for different tire diameter.
No problems.
