I have a 66 ss conv. with a manual top I want to convert it to power. On both rails of the top frame near the springs are stickers that say manual only. Was this for the factory when installing it or is there a power top frame?

Don - My 67 is a power top, I've been told that the frames are different from the manual one.

There are differences between power and manual top frames.
Mostly where the springs or hydraulic cylinders would attach.
It would be best to buy a complete power top assembly from a parts car. I just sold a power top assembly to a member here in the classifieds about a month ago.

I switched my top from manual to power, the the biggest differences were in the linkage bars (attached to the side rails)... The basic side rails, "hinges", bows and most other pieces were the same (I think the lift cylinders will even bolt up to where the manual springs went, but I didn't try that)... The bows all seemed to be the same as well...

Unfortunately, the linkage pieces are not seperable from the rest of the top...

So basically, the middle and rear side rails will have to be changed (can't recall on the front side rails)...

I found a power top frame from another 66/67 A-body

Out of curiousity, what color is your top frame?

My manual top frame was off-white, and I have never seen another one that wasn't black...

I had a 66 pontiac lemans that was blue, that came from the factory with a blue convertible top, and the convertible top frame was blue like the car. I bought the car from the original owner, and he said that was exactly the way it came when he bought the car new. (power top by the way).
