I had some areas on my body that needed to be primed, so I masked them off, and sprayed some primer.

When I removed the mask, I found that some of the adhesive from the tape was left behind on the car body. How should I get this off?

The body is full primer.

There's a great product called "Goof Off" that can be bought at most hardware or home improvement stores. It does a great job with removing old, stuck on adhesives. However, as with any chemical, test it in a small area first to make sure there is no problem.

Try and use a good quality masking tape such as 3M. You'll avoid this problem if you do, but even the 3M tape will leave behind residue if left on after it gets wet or is left outside to bake in the sun. It's always best to pull the masking tape/paper as soon as practical after priming/painting to avoid problems.

i found that grease and wax remover works good. you may have to do a little wet sanding if it is real dry.
