first, drop the caps key and stop YELLING!!!!then you can ck (i beleive it is) year one. unless you are tring to cut weight id go with steel. you will have a much sounder engine compartment with the steel.

There is no rhyme or reason as to which Chevelles got platic or steel. The steel ones weigh maybe 3-4 pounds more than plactic ones. Not a big weight savings there.
I bought a set of plastic ones about two years ago. Biggest dissapointment I've ever had w/ repop parts. Buy steel. You'll be happy you did.

In 1969 GM was changing from steel to plastic. The deal was that they would use plastic until they were all gone and then use steel. My 69 has one steel and one plastic from the factory. Rare, yes but no one believes me so what does it matter.

JOHN69,

Jimmy P is right; there's no rhyme or reason as to which cars from which assembly plants got either steel or plastic inner fenders. This has been the general consensus here from previous discussions on this topic.

Steve Cuddihy,

Nice to hear from another 69 convertible owner. And don't worry, you will find many receptive ears here as to what your car has. I see from another of your posts that you purchased your car from the original owner 25 years ago. Many times questions are asked as to what a vehicle originally came equipped with (i.e., what type of inner fenders, or blue 'GM Mark of Excellence' decals). Your car can be a valuable resource in answering those questions. Glad to have you here.
